Insomniac Details Wolverine Linear Campaign Before PS5 Launch

Insomniac Games' Marvel's Wolverine features a linear 15-hour narrative focused on James "Logan" Howlett's investigation of missing mutants, shifting away from the open-world exploration that defined the studio's recent Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank releases.

The title incorporates an active healing factor, regenerating health over time during encounters rather than using pickup items. Progression relies on skill points and Ability Points gathered through optional combat trials and collectibles, unlocking parry window adjustments and damage reduction modifiers across more than 30 customisable suits.

Combat centres on basic claw combos, parries, dodges, and a rage meter that triggers critical strikes and second-chance revives across linear arena layouts. Insomniac is pitching a tighter, mission-driven structure: fewer sandbox distractions, more set-piece fights and story beats paced for a single focused campaign.

Marvel's Wolverine launches worldwide for PlayStation 5 on September 15, 2026. For players who wanted a brutal, story-first take on the character after years of cameo appearances elsewhere, the final week before launch will determine whether the linear gamble pays off.
