Nintendo has officially confirmed that the ground-up remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will launch exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. The release date was finalised alongside new gameplay footage during Nintendo's 40th Anniversary franchise presentation.
Built specifically for Nintendo's next-generation hardware, the remake replaces the 1998 N64 original's visual presentation with fully overhauled 3D environments, orchestral audio, and voiced cutscenes. Quality-of-life updates include a dedicated jump button, revised inventory quick-swapping, and motion aiming support.
Nintendo will also launch a themed Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 hardware bundle on October 29, one week ahead of the game's November 5 debut.
The presentation marked the franchise's 40th anniversary and followed months of speculation after Nintendo first teased a modern reimagining of the 1998 classic. Pre-order details for the standalone game and the hardware bundle are expected closer to launch, with Nintendo positioning the remake as a flagship Switch 2 title for holiday 2026.
